For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord, and to practice it, and to teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel."

(Ezra 7:10)

"I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?" 1 Corinthians 4: 6-7 ESV

the purpose of this website was initially ecumenical as I explored common ground between the various expressions of the Christian faith. While I am still working towards that goal and the website material up to date is all still avaialble I am now working on what the meaning of Christianity is and what is it's real place in this world.

I think that part of that work will also, possibly necessarily, address the ancient pagan religions that Neo=Paganism is trying to resurrect and claim a preemminence over the Christian faith.

Robert Graves, the author of "The White Goddess" in a tongue in cheek criticism of Sir James Frazier's treatment of the myth behind the ancient pagan belief systems stated that:

Sir James Frazer was able to keep his beautiful rooms at Trinity College, Cambridge, until his death by carefully and methodically sailing all around his dangerous subject, as if charting the coastline of a forbidden island without actually committing himself to a declaration that it existed. What he was saying-not-saying was that Christian legend, dogma and ritual are the refinement of a great body of primitive and even barbarous beliefs, and that almost the only original element in Christianity is the personality of Jesus.

"The only original element of Christianity is ...Jesus."  Whatever Graves may have intended to say he actually about summed up the purpose of Christianity...the Person and Work of Jesus Christ.

Celtic Christianity also has an ancient claim to celebrating Christianity in it's earliest forms. see this link

The Orthodox Doctrine

Within the Orthodox Tradition of the Christian faith tradition itself is given equal authority with both Scripture and the first seven ecumenical councils of the Church. Those councils in fact are the anchor points of the Orthodox traditions.
